The Traditional Outfit was born from a simple concern: the looms of the Northeast are quieter than they used to be. We began by knocking on doors in Cooch Behar, in Sualkuchi, in Mokokchung — asking artisans if they would let us carry their work to the world.

Assam's Muga silk is the only silk in the world that grows more lustrous with every wash. Our Mekhela Chadors are woven from this rare thread in Sualkuchi — the silk village of the East.
